I had a 3.74 GPA and a 745 on my GMAT?

they said I need experience on my field...I graduated a year ago from a top tier liberal art school.

I don't know what experience has to do with being admitted into Stern...I had better numbers than most people and they where let in. I'm just as prepare as they are if not more.

I'm working with Robert and half finance with a 57k salary with proficiency in 3 languages..I need more and I can only get it by getting a masters.
Penn state accepted me but I consider it a school below me.

Most quality MBA programs require a minimum of 3, and prefer at least 5, years of work experience. They want to know that you have had extensive exposure to the workplace and can relate your education to your own managerial experience. Believe me; you need to check your ego a little bit. With a 745 you are obviously bright, but that is not everything, and your GPA is not so tremendous that you can expect immediate admissions to a school like Stern. You also made so many errors in question that I have to wonder about our English.

Schools make their requirements for a reason, and experience has a LOT to do with it. As a business school professor, I can tell you that most good MBA students are seriously irritated at having to tolerate the inexperience of younger students in their classes, because it holds back their learning experience when the professors have to explain how everything relates to the workplace.

You are doing well for someone a year out of your undergraduate program. You now have two choices; you can recognize that the elite MBA will serve you best, and apply again in another 3 or 4 years, or you can apply now to a local school with less of a reputation.

I don't know what you problem is.... People apply to schools... some are accepted, and MOST are not... Get over it... it happends a lot.

Here's my take on the situation... Universities with more prestige have higher standards.... Not only do they want grades, they want experience.... They want to know that you were motivated enough to do research in your undergraduate program, even though its not required.... They probably want more people with experience in their program, so they don't have to "teach you from scratch" all the in's and out's of working in the field. People with experience in a field show drive and motivation... and if you didn't have it, its like a bad mark.

So don't get all bent out of shape... some school have a LOT higher standards than others.

And your remark on how a school can be "below you" is appalling. YOU applied to this school, and were accepted, you should take it... Stop believe your "hot stuff" and get your degree...

Maybe is has to do with poor communication skills. You write like you missed eng 101. 1 year experience is nothing.
