I asked for my 4 year old son to meet Thomas the Tank Engine. The producer of the show came to meet us and decided to arrange it for a Christmas show. my son had white blonde hair and wore glasses, looked like the Milky Bar Kid.
It was due to be filmed at a steam railway in Peterborough. The steam train would be made to look like "Thomas" and my son would travel on the foot plate with Father Christmas. I was told to keep it a secret from him; just as well I did.
3 weeks before filming was due I had a letter from the BBC saying the woman who made the TV programmes had bought the copyright to the characters. She was refusing to let them use the image in that way. She had invited my son to see the making of the Thomas TV programme but the producers of Jim'll Fix It declined her offer.
You can imagine how I felt, my son is 25 now and still doesn't know!
I could never bring myself to watch that show again, even though it wasn't their fault.

Jim'll Fix It reminds me of kids trying to eat cream cakes while on a roller coaster. Don't know why, it just does! Never had the pleasure of receiving a medallion from him, or a Blue Peter Badge, or a Wac-a-day plaster from Timmy Mallet, or a Blankety Blank Cheque Book & Pen, or even a Dusty Bin! I need to fill this void in my life! LOL

I remember Jim Will Fix It very well, I would have love him to fix it for me to go to a film premier wearing a beautiful evening gown so I could walk up the red carpet having my photo took by the world press, how vain is that but would have loved to have done it.

I would like to ride round the TT track on the Isle of Man, for my Dad. That was his dream. I think I would have to be satisfied with pillion. He was building a bike to do it on. It had to be sold though.
I have been thinking about this alot lately. I'm glad you brought it up. And also sad.
I hope you will do that for your mum.

I asked him to fix it so we didn't have to see him on tv anymore.
Must have worked, I haven't seen him for ages.
