I was thinking of letting an attorney handle my parents will when the time comes so that I can avoid family squabbles. Plus, another reason for doing this is that I live a couple of hundred miles away. They have a trust. My parents do not want anyone else in the family to handle their will.

Generally, they are allowed to charge a percentage of the value of the estate. This varies from state to state.

It could be a flat fee or an hourly rate. Executors get a percentage for taking care of it. I believe in Ohio it was 10%. You would have to check where you live.

Before you waste a lot of money, read the terms of the trust. There may be instructions for succession therein.
If so, the matter of their will should not need much admin.
