If St. Bernadette's beliefs were in conflict with the Catholic Church, she would not have been canonized. I seem to recall that she had some conflict with the local bishop when she first saw the apparitions. It was only after Mary told Bernadette that she was the Immaculate Conception and Benadette repeated this to the bishop without understanding what the words meant that the bishop believed her. (The doctrine of the Immaculate Conception had just been clarified and most Catholics still had not heard of it.)

I can't think of any conflict that would even be possible between Bernadette and any government, as she was kept at home as a child due to poor health and then went into a convent shortly afterwards, where she had little contact with the outside world.
