my laptop harddrive has just broken. but i have an external harddrive. can i boot it up from that?

yes u just got to change bios as they said so itll boot by that or boot by cd if you have windows or the cd that came with that laptop. and boot with the operating system disk and have it boot by the external hard drive second that way u can install it directly to the hard drive

Hi. Yes. Change the boot order in BIOS to use the new drive first. Put the operation system on that drive.

You'd have to have your Operating System on that hard drive.
