We have done green bean casserole every Thanksgiving and Christmas for years, and we're definitely ready for a change. Since this is for a holiday meal, I'm looking for recipes that are tried and true. Help!

We make an awesome broccoli cheese casserole.

You need:

2 boxes frozen chopped broccoli
1 16 oz jar cheese whiz
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 cups uncooked rice
1 cup millk
salt and pepper if desired

Cook the rice. Dump it into a casserole dish. Add the thawed broccoli, the soup, the cheese and the chopped vegs.

Stir until its all evenly mixed. Stir in the milk to thin it down. Bake it in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. When its cheesy and bubbly, it is done.

We love this stuff.

here is a variation on green bean casserole, instead of using the plain jain cream of mushroom soup use the cambell's cream of mushroom with roasted garlic also for a little more variety use the cheddar cheese flavored french fried onions both of these give a new and very fagrant spin to the same ol' dish!

What's wrong with the classic green bean casserole? We have it every year, and we still love it. Why don't you try crumbling some bacon on top?

No! Neither should you! It's a sacrilege to even suggest such a thing. Kiddin' I LOVE rutabagas. Try this! Boil rutabagas, then mash them with milk and butter like potatoes, add some crisp bacon bits and voila! You have a delicious side that our family LOVES. Happy turkey day!

I've started using the new CHEDDER french fried onions for the topping instead of the original. I also like to add Bacon bits. One time my fiance made it and he fried some little bite size pieces of chicken and added to it for a meal and that was REALLY yummy.

do the casserole, but add diced canned potatoes, or sliced water chesnuts..I like the water chesnuts. It adds a nice gentle crunch to it..maybe add finely chopped onion to it, A little more black pepper. me?I will probably have that dish, cranberry sauce,turkey,dressing..not stuffing..& something green, like broccoli or spinich..there! try creamed spinich!
