This is beautiful when read aloud, but surely you already knew that Don. Superb imagery, rich in phonological texture, just wonderful. One flaw: "she and her pups" is grammatically correct, since the occasion calls for the nominative case of the pronoun, not the objective. Very superior work!

On our front lawn on the 4th of July. We always have friends over, and we sit outside for fireworks.
In my friend's backyard. We used to sit out there and just sit.
Sometimes, my best friend would come over and we would sit in my backyard. We would talk about stupid things for hours on end.
