A giant branch has fallen in front of my steps before and luckily it was 5 mins after my friend walked in. Also some of our cable lines passes through the giant tree before reaching my house. Also the tree for some reason over the past 3 years have been increasingly raining sap and huge droplets at that all over my dad's car and front yard. It's horrible, the pine needles are constantly falling down and also slowly destroying the car as well by slowly seeping into cracks and creating gaps in the car's molding (we don't have an indoor garage).

Bottom line, the giant pine tree is hurting our property and almost injured a visitor. Want to cut down tree but has very low income. I heard cutting down the tree (25ft estimate) costs about $2 - $3000. Any helpful information on getting the tree cut down cheap or free would be appreciated. Thanks.

We've had some estimates by the locals and they say, cutting it down, taking the wood away, and removing the stump cost ranged from $1k - 2.5k so far. The pine tree is in the middle of cemented floor like a 3x3 box but with the tree growing in the middle... hope that info is helpful.

The tree is like 2 meters away from the house. I don't know what type of cables run through the trees since I am not experienced with telling them apart. My house is single floor. I live in a suburb city.

There are going to be several factors that effect the price of tree removal. One is the area in which you live. In a rural area, you usually can get trees removed for a lot less than in an urban area. Other factors include the proximity of buildings, wires and other obstructions! If the tree was in the middle of a field, and there was a place bring it down it will be cheaper than if the tree must be brought down in sections, using ropes to guide the pieces!

Another factor is the type of wood. Many times you can have hardwood tree removed cheaper than a softwood like a pine, because the person who is taking the wood can then sell the hardwood as firewood! Softwoods are not good as firewood because of the creosote buildup they leave!

If the tree is interfering with electrical lines, you might contact the electric company to see if they will trim the tree! Most likely you or your dad are going to have to find a way to come up with the money to have the tree removed, or you are going to have to do it yourself!

I don't know where you live, but I'm from a smaller town where the street department will actually cut down the tree for free if it in danger of damaging city property. Since most cities rent cable lines from the cable company, then the city might at least come trim the tree. I agree with everyone else, that it shouldn't cost more than around $500. Still, though, check with your city department and see if they might be able to do it for free or a low price to save their investment. Good luck.

you say the cable lines run through this tree. do the electric lines also run through this tree? if they do call the power company and ask them to send someone out to look at the tree and it may just be that they might take it down to below the level of the power lines for you. the power company here did this for me at house that i used to care take for. i had three trees taken down at a customers house for about $1100 but the cost all depends on how much climbing and roping they have to do which is based on how close to buildings and power lines the tree is. i do not suggest that you attempt to cut this tree down yourself as it sounds as though it is to close to the house and some utility lines. as for the car and the sap get a car cover or a blue plastic tarp to cover the car over and keep the sap off

Those prices don't sound unreasonable. Because of the house and the wires you can't just cut it and let the whole tree come crashing down. That tree is going to have to come down in pieces. An experienced arborist will have to climb the tree with a chainsaw and drop limbs and pieces of the trunk. It is a dangerous job and he should get paid well to do it. Make sure you get proof of liability insurance from whoever you hire to remove the tree. If your income is so low, you need to get a better job.

Sorry to hear about your problem but you don't say where you're located. I live in northen Michigan and have had to have quite a few trees taken down. The most we have paid was $ 200 and that was a huge oak almost 90 feet tall. I suggest you do some calling around some more. Good luck.

if your state has guys that go down the streets and highways cutting trees ask them if they could at the least trim the limbs on the tree for you. or ask if they know any one that could remove the tree for a person on low income.

make sure to get a licensed person to do this that has general liability..If you hire someone unlicensed for too cheap and one of the logs or the tree falls into a neighbors car, or falls through the roof..these people doing the cutting will be gone, and this will be your liability for hiring unlicensed people.. Get thier insurance information ..then call the insurance agent to make sure it is up to date...500.00 t0 800.00 sounds about right to me for that size tree...
