They say the only dumb question is the one not asked, however some people seem to delight in making you feel like a fool for asking carefully thought out questions.I realize you need gumption and a big backbone to come on here for help, but I can't help but feel hurt at times when I get a smart as* remark. Am I the only one, honestly? Thanks for your input.

You are not alone in your feelings....no....I sometimes feel really aggravated when people respond with sarcasm (rending of flesh) or belittling the asker. BUT, I dont define the validity or importance of my questions (or myself) by how others respond. I just "take what I like and leave the rest". If someone is rude, I dont read the entire answer. In all fairness, I have to admit that I sometimes feel impatient when people post non-sensical or NON questions on this site. I DO get over it though. Keep on asking.

Some people, professors included, lack social skills. What more can I say? I once sat in on a class where the professor often berated students for asking questions, calling them idiots and dumb questions. I never took that class for credit, even though outside the class I had had many good conversations with him and got along with him. I was also one who asked a lot of questions, and sometimes answered them when the professor didn't some time later.
