1962 - 1st 45 - Booker T. and the MG's:
Green Onions / Behave Yourself

1964 - 1st Album - The Buggs:
The Beetle Beat!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Buggs
At the time I think I thought they were The Beatles, only to be super pissed to find out that they weren't. I still thought they were from Liverpool until recently...they're from Omaha Nebraska! And the record was recorded in Minneapolis!
So this is the very first album I ever bought (with out my Mom)

1967 - 1st 8-Track - Cream: Disraeli Gears (I still have it)

1967 - 1st Cassette - The (Young) Rascals: See

1987 - 1st CD - I bought several CD's well before I even owned a CD player back in 1987. They were the new craze at the time, and I was blown away at just how many Frank Zappa titles were available. The very 1st CD I purchased was Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention 'We're Only In It For The Money'.
My second CD was XTC Drums and Wires.

You forgot to mention 'reel to reel' tapes which predate the 8-track and cassette, and before hard disc recording this was the recording industry standard up until the 1990's.
In my opinion it still sounds awesome!
My 1st 'reel to reel' tape was a mono version of 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'.

And today I prefer the analog sound of my vinyl and reel to reels over anything else!

The first album I ever bought was the debut album from 'Boston'... my Dad was so happy that I was buying something other than a 'Kiss' album, because my siblings and I were big into a Kiss phase in 1976. The next few albums I bought, and I'm talking LP's here, were from Steve Miller Band, ELO and Styx.
