Whenever I play a role an underlying goal is to have the audience forget that it's me and see the person that I'm playing. Part of that often involves using a different accent, different bearing, etc.

If I was watching you audition, I would rather see you try to be someone else than have the role perfect when you audition.

You can build a role with time, but if you only sit up there sounding and acting yourself you will probably do the same thing when the play goes off.

You should try to nail an English accent, just to add that extra spark to the monologue.

Just keep rehearsing the song and the monologue.

Here's some tips:

1. Have someone listen to you. It could be your mom, dad, friend, dog, whoever. Get some practice singing in front of people.

2. Tape yourself. You can then adjust your speed, volume, pitch, etc.

3. DON'T FREAK OUT! It's mostly mind over matter.

If you want to impress, memorize your monologue and the song. Also, don't freak out if you screw up. That won't impress the director.
I'm going to an audition this week too. I hope you do well, GOOD LUCK!!
