When I lived on the Isle of Wight I wore them loads of times, as I enjoyed walking miles with my dog Storm along the beach fossil hunting, walking through the sea and many of the walks I did were muddy ones, everyone there seemed to wear them, now I'm on the mainland I haven't got any, which is a shame, I need to get out again with Storm and enjoy the scenery again. Thanks for reminding me of what I've missed.
Wellies are for people that want to get out there and don't mind about what others think, just about how much is out there to enjoy.

Never, just cos Kate Moss wore a pair at Glastonbury it does not mean they look good on any level. They aren't comfortable and I have seen many a twisted ankle at festivals from people getting their wellies caught in the mud.

If you wear them for practical reasons fine, if you think they are a good fashion statement - be prepared for the 'oh my god, I can't believe I thought they looked good' thoughts in a couple of years.

Wellington's are regularly looser than regular shoes, meaning that your heel is continually moving up and down interior the welly, and is rubbing against the lower back of the boot. each and every time it rubs the lower back of the boot, it is going to pull your socks down slightly.

I don't wear them at all, but I live in the Pacific Northwest, and up here I see people wearing them ALL the time, in every color and 'pattern' you could imagine. It's WET up here, and I know that Wellies are 'rubber' and you don't have to wear shoes with them, so I think they are WONDERFUL ... but I'm not going to get any, because I'm a bit too old to try being that 'fashionable' on my feet.

I can, without any hesitation, say I have never worn them before in my entire life. At the risk of sounding completely ignorant (which I was) I had to "Google" to find out what they were exactly. I guess we in the southern part of the U.S. just refer to them differently...........lol. Anyanswer, I'm gonna need a Brit to American dictionary, when answering your questions, aren't I. LOL

The only Wellington's I'm familiar with are steaks and we, here in the south, eat them instead of wear them.....LOL

I wear them in the Spring when it rains. Because there are no gutters or anything on campus, so when it rains there are huge unavoidable puddles up to your ankle or higher. I have a couple pairs that are really cute! Like polka dots and stripes.

Last time was about 35 years ago. Didn't like them then don't think I would like them now. Feet were always cold in them and your socks always worked their way down under your foot till you had a big lump of sock at your toe.
