I used to fix the big dinner, but Bill (my late husband) told me he didn't like to see me slaving in the kitchen all day if it was just him and me, so he started taking me out to eat if we weren't having company (I still made my "famous" pumpkin pies, wouldn't be Thanksgiving otherwise!). Worked for me! Then we'd get a paper on the way home, and I'd map out my strategy and make my lists for Black Friday! Gosh, I used to love that! I'd have flyers spread all over the table, and be mapping out my plan of attack with more care than an Army General! Bill used to get a kick out of me, lol!
Paul (my current fiance) isn't into that. He expects the traditional meal, and there isn't anywhere but Wal-mart to shop up here. Last year, I made the dinner, we went for a walk around the neighborhood since the weather was nice, watched some tv, and that was that. No Black Friday, either.
This year, I might have to work, so I don't know what I'll do then. At least, I'm going to try to hit Wal-mart Friday before work. Paul should have to work that day. If by some miracle I'm not working, I might try to get over to a neighboring town that has stores! Maybe grab my daughter if she's not busy, and take her along. I guess I'll have to wing it, we don't get the paper for that other town up here, and I don't know if I'll be able to score our paper or not. Hard to come by if you don't subscribe! Maybe find the sites on the Internet, or something. I'm not going to get too excited. I'll bet a dollar to a turkey dinner I'll have to work! As if anyone will be in dire need of auto parts!

Good question as to what my plans are. I found out not too long ago that the place I work at (hint: it's the biggest fast food chain in the world) is open on turkey day so I don't know, since i'm a new employee I will more than likely have to work.

We have fried eggnog and watch the Macy's Parade while the turkeys going. We call family that is out of town. and then around 2:00 we start on all of our sides. We don't stress on anything, just eat when it is done, once we have said Grace.

I plan on sharing the day with loved ones, thanking God for all he's given me and all he's done for me, and for the wisdom to know what's important in life.
