Draw a number line. In the "middle" is zero -- count up 1, 2, 3 . . .from zero from left to right. Then, count down -1, -2, -3. . . from zero from right to left .

...-3...-2...-1...0...1...2...3...

The numbers on the left are smaller than the numbers on the right.

So -35 is smaller than -24 (or -24 is greater than -35)
-35<-24

0 > -4

LCD of 25 & 20 --
5*5 = 25
4* 5 = 20

pick common factors -- 5*5*4 = 100

5/n = 2/3 --- multiply both sides by n to get.. .
5 = 2/3n --- multiply both sides by 3/2 to get. . .
5 * 3/2 = n

(1) Which is greater... -35 or -24? -24 is greater because its closer to "0" (on a number line).

(2) "0" or - 4? "0" is greater because its positive. A positive integer is always bigger than a negative number.

(4) Solve... 5/n = 2/3
First: eliminate fractions - multiply the LCD with both fractions. The LCD is (3*n = 3n)

3n(5/n) = 3n(2/3)

SEc: eliminate the same terms - combine the rest.

3(5) = n(2)
15 = 2n, or 2n = 15

Third: solve for "n" - divide both sides by 2 (when you move a term to the opposite side, always use the opposite sign).

2n/2 = 15/2
n = 15/2

Make a number line. Since -35 lies to the left of -24,
-24 is greater. Similarly 0 > -4.
To get the LCD of 2 numbers a and b
compute a*b/GCF(a,b)
So the LCD of 25 and 20 is 25*20/5 = 25*4 = 100.
5/n = 2/3
Cross multiply: 2n = 15
so n = 7.5.
