Most people who Answer will tell you to think again. So here's the lecture.

What can happen when you have sex?

Pregnancy. Chlamydia. Gonorrhea. Syphilis. Herpes. HPV (there are 30 sexually transmissible types). HIV. Trichomoniasis. Hepatits (yes, it can be transmitted sexually). Pubic lice (crabs). Scabies. Many other viral and bacterial diseases. Many STDs have few or no symptoms.

Jealousy. Regret. Resentment. Anger. Embarrassment. Loss of self-esteem. Lying awake wondering if she's going to leave you or cheat on you. Heartbreak. Lying to your parents. Sneaking around trying to find places to have sex. Trying to buy condoms. Worrying about pregnancy.

Sexual intimacy requires a level of commitment, fidelity, maturity, and trust that not even some adults have.

Yes, abstinence until marriage is old-fashioned, boring, and "nobody does that anymore." That's why 85-90% of all teens who are sexually active will have at least one STD before they are 21. Some of these STDs are permanent; some are even fatal, such as HPV-induced cervical or head/neck cancer. HIV is also fatal.

Please rethink your decision about having sex. It can complicate your life beyond belief.

Wait. Sex requires a level of maturity that every teenager thinks he or she already has -- but 99% do not yet really have it. There are physical, emotional and moral responsibilities involved that you don't even imagine can exist until you've been there. By waiting you show respect for each other and your relationship. You also avoid a lot of lying to parents and worries about pregnancy. A good rule is that if a pregnancy would be devastating, then don't have sex, even if you're using protection, because if you don't have the kind of relationship where a baby would be welcomed with joy by BOTH of you, then you don't have the kind of relationship where you ought to have sex with each other. Yes, it takes a lot of self control to wait until you're older, But lots of important things are hard. That just makes it more worthwhile to prevail.

Good luck to you both.

J/K but if you do do this stuff, this is a probability. condoms and birth control don't always work.

take this into consideration
