I have!

When i was with my ex, after household bills we only had £20 per week to spend on food for 3 adults and four children.
It was really hard but we shopped at Aldi and ate lots of baked beans and cheap bread. One Christmas we had one tin of beans left to share between the 3 adults. (The children ate better) - Then some friends invited us to there's for dinner.

Also, when a friend of mine was homeless for 5 years he lived on much less than this. Some days he ate a pie, and on others days he ate out of dustbins or didn't eat at all.

if i had too, some people dont have that luxury..
id buy
a bag potatoes-39p
tin beans-17p
eggs-35p
the potatoes i could make last a couple of days,as i could with the beans, and eggs would also last 2-3 days,so the next couple of days that i make up for not buying food,i would buy some soap and deoderant..easy peasy...lol

Of course...a carrot or an apple is a few pence....one day you could buy a bag of rice or pasta for 50p....that would last a while. I dont think you'd survive very long though!
