Translate these verabal expression into a mathematical expression: Twice the product of eight more than a number.

=2(x+8). I think the confusing word here is product. When we use it in Math, we automatically think of using multiplication. But it can also be used to term the result of a function, in this case x+8. So, twice the product of 8 more than a number is the same as 2 times the quantity of x+8 or 8+x as addition is commutative.

you never stated what was being multiplied by "eight more than a number". "Eight more than a number" is the same as (x+8). "Twice the product" indicates that whatever the product of (x+8) and the missing value, it will in the end be multiplied by 2.

2(x + 8)
The wording implies
