Why Do Some Americans Still Back A Criminal US President?

Question

The guilt of the President and the guilt of people in his administration is well-known and documented, so why do some people still lie and support the President by saying that Saddam had WMD? Do people enjoy lying and what can we, the people, do about other people lying?

If the 75% of Americans who don't like and disagree with Bush would all write their congressman and senators a letter stating their disapproval, our do nothing congress would be forced to take action and impeach Bush and Cheney. They both should be tried for war crimes and executed after their convictions.

That is a very good question! His supporters seem to be wearing rose colored glasses and refuse to see the truth. They refuse to believe there wasn't weapons of mass destruction, refuse to believe he knew the dealings of his direct reports that have resigned or were fired, forget that he has not found Bin Laden that killed thousands of Americans, excuse his enormous war time spending and will blame the new president for the repayment of his huge deficit. I am American and it is unbelievable that the truth is right in front of us but some vigilantly refuse to believe it. It seems these people are brainwashed and have some cult like following. Maybe they need some universal health care for mental benefits. LOL.

I think that it is very clear that George Bush and the people around him are incompetent.

I am also aware that much of the information that they used to justify the war in Iraq came from Iraqi defectors who claimed to have knowledge of weapons of mass destruction to ingratiate themselves with United States Intelligence Officers to get themselves into the United States and to claim hundreds of thousands of dollars that the intelligence services were handing out to people who supposedly had inside information on what Saddam Hussein's regime was up to.

In some cases those people were mere taxi drivers with no knowledge at all.

This makes it very difficult to really determine whether the Bush administration had true criminal intent or is merely incompetent.

It appears to me that this administration is clearly one of the most incompetent administrations that we have ever had in the history of the United States.

Proving true criminal intent is more of a challenge, however.

Bush was only repeating what Clinton,and the rest of Congress was saying as fact. If Hussein didn't have them then how did he gas approximately 5000 Kurds?

Evidently the Democrats don't have a problem with it. Especially Reid,Kennedy,Kerry,Pelosi.

It just shows the poor level of comprehension in some Americans, also how easy they can get "brain washed"!!

I used to ask myself the same Que., over and over for some time and never find the reasonable answer.

For one, it's about republican party. And according to my observation in life, rep's are all about racism and prejudice.
It just depends on the circumstances which race or nationality to hate!

Now days, its about Mexicans, Islam and Muslims. Who ever hates this race and religion joins this party or is already there!!

Thus, it doesn't matter how or what bushy is doing.
As long as he can feed his followers hatred and "stay the course"!!!! no matter how wrong and unjust it is, they will obey him!! HOW PATHETIC IS THIS?!!

I mean, how hard is it to see the main reason behind this war and ongoing slaughtering of the innocence!

They lied, absolutely and unequivocally, that is the way it is.
We, the people, can do little about it beyond pointing out the rabid madness and greed for power, of those who are "in charge" to people who are good at heart, but indoctrinated..
Also you have to bear in mind that there are a lot of simple minded and genuine people, who quite genuinely believe that people tell the truth.as a matter of course.

I am just happy that Bush only has one more year in office. We will not have a Republican President in 2009.

People don't care. They are happy to accept what they hear whether it is true or not. Tossing around words like "islamofascism" keeps people believing that there is some great enemy that the US is in fact protecting us and the Iraqi people from by waging a war based on lies...what can we do about it? Probably not much.
