find lowest common denominator which is 20, then times 4/4 to the first fraction to get this 16/20, then on the other fraction
times 5/5 to the fraction 3/4, to get 15/20. Then add 16/20+15/20= 31/20 which equals to 1 11/20

another way to see this

4/4x4/5= 16/20, 5/5x3/4=15/20

16/20+15/20= 31/20 then

31/20= 1 11/20
