WWE is more fake then Santa Claus and the tooth fairy combined. The matches even have scripts that are rehersed prior to the live telecast.
Now, it does not take away from it's entertainment value, if you like that sort of thing.
However, it is not a true sport, it's athletic theatre.

To a certain extent yes. It is scripted and well thought out. Yes, they have ways to make a move less painful, but it still hurts. And about 90% of the injuries are real. So if you ask if its fake, I would say no. These people put their bodies on the line for our entertainment. People have died in this business doing this fake sport. To me its just not fake. But I can understand why some say it is.

Yes and no. It is certain that fight outcomes are decided in advance. On the other hand, for the wrestlers to give and take the punishment that they do, they have to be in good physical shape. While many of the "blood and gore" episodes are staged, accidents DO happen and people can be hurt.

BTW: When television was in its infancy in NYC, a main show was wrestling from St. Nicholas' Arena. WWE is just a well-organizer successor to the tradition.

In a way, yes. The matches are pre-determined, as the winners are decided before the match, and wrestlers know how to take moves in order to decrease pain and the chance of injury. That being said, wrestlers still feel a lot of pain during matches and still get injured as well. The storylines may be fake, but the pain sure isn't.

Completely,
I thought for years it was real. After all, who would want to be a professional fake, but all I had to do was look at their facial expressions when they were getting "hurt." The acting is terrible, but hey, it's kinda fun to watch two people get/not get beat up. It's like watching one of those old westerns where the cowboys are "punching" the bad guys, but they never even touch them. Hooray for sound dubbing, right!?

=)

I'm convinced that wrestlers hit the mat when they get body slammed, or slam into the mat when they miss a body press... Hit the floor when they are pushed off the apron or miss a flying manuever...

I don t how they fake the chair shots or getting slammed through a table... But it sounds and looks pretty real to me ........

WWE stands for "World Wrestling Entertainment" I think the last part of the name pretty much sums it up :)

You can't fake smashing a chair into someone's head or jumping off a ladder into a table. The outcomes might be prearranged, but the wrestling itself is by no means "fake."
