Or pave the way for terrorists to turn public opinion in middle east against USA and recruit more naive people to terrorist organizations.

I'm afraid the later. Its become a training ground for the terrorists to practise and hone their skills. Most of the average citizens see America as the invader not the liberator so as it goes on more and more public opinion will be against and more and more will join the terrorists.

My friend says that the US presence serves to stoke the fires of terrorism and feels that we are equally repressive and terrorizing to those we claim to protect.

I say that the US presence in Iraq is not necessarily reducing terrorism as it serves as a promotional piece for recruitment of future terrorists who would harm us. The one positive is that the terrorists are focusing their attention at operations in the Middle East as opposed to staging an operation here on our local soil. I think the US would be better served by taking a more supporting role and more covert response in order to eliminate threats without drawing the ire of the surrounding communities. Recent reports have indicated that the communities in Iraq are beginning to accept the support of the US as a 'supporting' role which has proved to be far more successful than tackling the elements head on.

BUT my friend has some points and thought you would like two points of view.

Great question. I remember and correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Saddam appeal to Bush to send in as any people to scope out the country for WMD? Bush told him to leave and I assume he could have left with billions, but who would have taken him. Intel tells us that Saddam and OBL were not buddies.

also you have to say the Iraq troops knew what was coming and held fast, even the last tanks coming out of Baghdad had to know it was useless, yet went out and were killed. then you have the blowing up of the cafe that Saddam was supposed to be in and the man asking why do that and kill his wife.

First thing is the other countries are Sunni and do not want a nuclear Iran. They plus Iraq had majority *****. I think it would be interesting to see what the spin off countries north of there that left the Soviet Union are.

If any of my friend and family were attacked and killed I would gather up all weapons and ammo and can goods and head to the mountains. So for one killed there are many upset. seems we played into their hands. So you have those people and other areas and Iran and that's it.

There's a movie with Chuck Norris called Invasion USA, might want to watch it. The Taliban are still moving about Afghanistan, but seems to be a lull around the world.

The American public was looking for blodd and you know this and it is sad that the only Congressman was elder statesman Sen. Rob Byrd that stood in Congress and told everyone not to do it.

It sure seems bad now, but is getting better, but time will tell. The other counties in the area may need to step in and Turkey will probably not at this point. So it's a tough question and if intel is right then maybe drawing down on reserves, but new ones jump up. Sunnis were out of power for six years before and came back, so they all need to work together. May need to build a fence as India, Pakistian, Saudi, and others have fences, sorta like we need because according to our Border Patrol 1 in 7* caught at our southern border is from a terror sponsoring country. Take care.

Increasing. Micheal Scheuer, head of the FBI's Bin Laden unit was mentioned in Laden's last recorded message a couple months ago. Scheuer wrote a book called Through our Enemies' Eyes and mentioned the reasons for our being attacked by terrorists and said that our presence in Iraq and our constant nosiness there is causing the Al Quada's hatred toward us and that it is not simply because of our freedoms and liberalism. Laden said that it would be smart for us Americans to read Scheuer's book so that we would know why we are at danger (in so many words...check it out yourself) Scheuer says that another large terrorist attack on our soil is inevitable if we keep going in this direction. Search for Micheal Scheuer on Youtube. Also check out Ron Paul.

Our presence is Iraq isn't justified.....and particular, we would desire to continuously pass away the Iraqi's to administration their very own affairs, which will develop right into a civil conflict as quickly as we pass away. yet even although i do no longer trust our regulations of being there, i will assist the squaddies who're there and in Afghanistan no remember what.

I'm gonna go with 'No.'

It's not necessarily recruiting terrorists; but it definately has not reduced the number of civilians killed by terroristic actions in the world.

As yourself this question. "Would you rather fight the terrorists here on our own soil, or would you rather fight them elsewhere?" As far as a reduction in terrorist attacks, it is reducing them. When was the last time the United States, or our interests (excluding soldiers sailors and marines actively engaging terrorists) were attacked?

It is increasing terrorism. Since the terrorists (and all of Iraq, for that sake) hate us, putting troops in the middle is just a stupid idea. If the US wanted to be hated a little less, they NEED to pull out soon.

The war in Iraq has brought more terrorists, before Iraq they were settled down. We now have terrorists everywhere, thanks to George Bush
