actually lactic acid IS a product of lactic acid fermentation...this happens in your body (ex: when you run for a long time your muscle cells must use the process of fermentation to provide energy. one byproduct of lactic acid fermentation is...you guessed it- lactic acid. once this lactic acid builds up it makes your muscles tired and weak.) lactic acid is NOT a product of alcoholic fermentation like that of bread rising, yeast, and in alcohol.

It all depends on which cells are doing the fermentation. I suspect that far more yeast cells carry on fermentation, so the products are alcohol and carbon dioxide instead of lactic acid.

lactic comes from the term lactate and blah blah...fermentation involves yeast converting sugar to something else...last time i checked yeast is not involved in hydrogenizing milk and lactate is not involved in fermentation (except maybe yogurt...but that uses live yeast cultures not those for fermenting)

You arent talking about beer or wine.
You must be talking about cheese or some thing like that.
lactic acid is produced when certain bacteria consume proteins.
