The Whigs nominated William Henry Harrison and John Tyler and defeated Martin Van Buren 234 -60 in the electoral college and around 3-2 ratio on popular vote.

The Whigs fielded William Henry Harrison, who was a hero of the Indian Wars and the War of 1812. He won, and to show everyone he was still a "real" man, and not an old man (which he was) he walked from the White House to the US Capitol with no coat and no hat and delivered the longest inaugural speech in history! (over 2 hours)

That night he was coughing and wheezing, and the next day he had pneumonia and died a month later! To this day EVERY president wears a hat to his inauguration, because they don't want to die!
