over heated iron wool.If the total pressure is 866 mmHg, calculate the partial pressures of N2 and H2.

How do u solve this equation, can u plz explain on wht to do with these type of equations. n also if u can show fully how u got ur answer so i know how to do it . thanks in advance

2NH3->N2+3H2

Ptotal=pH2+pN2

as pV=nRT
p is directly proportional to the amount of moles!

so 3 mol of Hydrogen and 1 mol of nitrogen resulted
divide Ptotal by 4

and then 1/4 => pN2
and 3/4=>pH2

866mmHg/4=216.5mmHg=pN2
216.5*3=649.5mmHg =pH2

2NH3 = N2 + 3H2

So if the ammonia is fully decomposed to nitrogen & hydrogen, then there is 4 molar ratios of product gas. One molar ratio of nitrogen and 3 molar ratios of hydrogen.
pN2 : pH2 :: 866/4 : 866 x 3 / 4
pN2 : pH2 :: 216.5 mmHg : 649.5 mmHg

n1 / nt = p1 / pt

1 / 4 = p1 / 866

p1 = partial pressure N2 = 216.5 mmHg

n2 / nt = p2 / pt
3 / 4 = p2 / 866

p2 = partial pressure H2 = 649.5 mm Hg
