No, because most of the time the asker is only looking for an answer that supports his own beliefs. It doesn't matter whether your answer is the best answer.

I got 20 something TUs on an answer once and BA went to someone with 3 thumbs down, Y!A is just odd like that.

What DOES sort of get to me is when people ask for such serious and urgent advice and then dont bother to respond or even PICK an answer.

not really. the asker doesn't have to pick you based on what other people think. it's his/her question after all and it's his/her opinion that your are influencing.
