In reality, the STFU is supposed hurt as it chokes you out and cranks the neck while pulling the leg at a painful angle, causing pain to two places at the same time. However, Cena's execution of it is admittedly awkward, and the only times I've ever seen it done well was against Michaels at Wrestlemania and using the ring rope to choke out Umaga at the Royal Rumble, although that technically doesn't count.

Plus, I don't know about you but come on, that's just painful.
Favorite STFU moment: Cena v. Umaga. Umaga gets choked out with the ring rope.

if you have ever been in an STFU you would know. the think that hurts the most about the STFU is not the pressure on the neck but the pressure on the legs. once you have it locked in your leg mussles feel like they are going to pop. the neck strain and the intence amount of pain in your legs is some of the worse pain you can have inflicted on you

its not made to make someone tap out its made to pretend it's hurting the person for a while then for them to eventually tap out, this isn't ufc the submissions aren't real but if i'm sue the stfu could hurt if anyone wanted to make it hurt.

That proves that if it wasn't scripted Cena will never win a match with the STFU look at the people he made tap people HBK, HHH, and Benoit .

they tap out cuz they want to get away from Cena as soon as possible. Cena gets excited when he does the STFU.

an stf is a painful maneuver if done correctly. cena doesnt do it well though but it doesnt matter when they are going to lose to superman hogan type. stf hurts your leg pretty bad and depending on how u lock the face it can be really painful.

He doesn't apply pressure. When the match is determined beforehand the oponent is told to tap out.

Most submission moves do not hurt at all when a wrestler puts them on other wrestlers. Its just a way to end the match. The figure 4 leg lock and others do not hurt.
