Americans call the facility a "rest room" or "toilet".....Japanese use "toire" or "otearai".....the Spanish say "Bano" .... even Filipinos say "kasilyas" or "palikuran"...... where did we get the CR title?

The "logic' of the title is not in question.
I am asking the origin and why go to the effort of creating a whole new term.....Butterflies could be called "flutterbys" with perfect logic.......but we do not
it had to be inspired from something??

very hard question.
i think the term ' comfort room' or 'CR' originated in the Philippines. because no other country uses this term.
the Spaniards sometimes uses 'alivie el espacio' by which, when translated directly to English, becomes 'comfort room'.

We take comfort in that room - I think that's a logical explanation, hence the term.

maybe, in all parts of the house, it's the last zone one can find solitude, even if one is not answering the call of nature,one can really find it a convenient place to comfort themselves, emotionally, biologically, do some make-ups, etc.

lol i dont know but
my last visit to the philippines, i asked where is the bathroom,and they would say " Ano?" lol and i said again " the restroom?" and they would say again " ano ...blah blah" and i finally i point to my private part and i said"i have to go pee pee!"
Lmao....She said" Ooooohh the comfort room, oh sowwie, ahh this way "
