I have met more people from that era that have common sense and despise what flower children have done to this country. The hippies are more in the media because they control it and Hollywood. Sorry, I'm just on an anti-hippie rant today.

you have every right to be anti-hippie. they were a screwed up bunch.

i, too, believe the numbers were low. thank goodness, because as it was, they did a lot of damage to our country. i have so many memories of the motley crews.

worse yet? the woman who is in the lead position on the dem side actually stood before the senate and requested a million dollars to erect a monument to them at Woodstock.

ah, no.... she and bill never inhaled....

Some of those people could have been former hippies that grew up. I found some pictures of my parents in the 60's and well, hello Woodstock! They were total hippies, and I had no idea.... Of course, they've outgrown that now. I'm sure many have, being 'weird' and 'expressive' is just a part of being young, and it's fun, everyone should try it.

What's a really small minority are the successful hippies. I'm talking about the physicists that discovered quarks and leptons (perhaps the names of these particles alone could suggest to you that they were hippies, the quarks come in "flavors" such as: up, down, charm, strange, top; this is real science folks). Or what about Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, creators of the Apple computer? They were major hippies too. And let's not forget my favorite teacher ever, Mrs. Russell (who taught English, ironic my most hated subject) who prepared us very well for college, and when asked about her hippie days would only say "I shared in the experiences common to my generation".

I was there and we looked at them for the fools they were. Today they try to glorify the "free love" drug induced era. Many of us were in college or starting families. We were raised in the 50's in a very innocent time.

The flower children were the beginning of the fall of decency. Remember Charles Manson?

You are right, it is a Hollywood thing! Leftist all the way!

There were not that many of them. The liberal media just wants it to look that way.

You're right - the "hippie movement" has been portrayed by the media as bigger and more influential than it really was at the time.
