When I was younger and started to go out on the town (around about 17) he gave me the following advice:-
always keep your front door key away from your bag (just in case your bag or purse get lost/stolen)
Make sure all your friends tell you if and when they are leaving a club/pub so you don't end up wandering around a club alone searching for them - if advised to leave ten minutes early to check you can get a taxi easy and miss the rush
Always check the back plate of a taxi to ensure that it is a proper taxi
Always keep money on your persons or at home so if your purse is lost you can pay the fare (he used to say a penny in your pocket is a friend!)
Don't leave your drink unattended for a moment
Don't get pregnant
plus lots more!

Dont depend on anyone for anything. Stand on ur own two feet and do what u need to do, becuase the only one u can trust is urself.

He taught me that if I can't afford to buy it now, I can't have it now. Saved me a lot of money, even though I'm in my 50's I still follow his advice, and if I want something I save for it.

after you've hit them, make sure your 3 miles away when they get up... i was six years old and starting out on my boxing career... i think he was just telling me to punch harder.... later he advised me never to play cards with a man who had the same first name as a city...

This sounds so mean of him to say.. but actually I know he was just saying it to teach me a life lesson.. but he told me...
"Suck It Up!"
I'm actaully happy he told me that. It made me a stronger person, and whenever I'm mad I just tell myself to "Suck It Up!"
Especially when I'm playing hockey.. I've always gotta tell myself to suck it up. :)
