first one: 35
second one: 50
first one explanation: u put 42 over one, and multiply it by 5/6.
you can cross divide by taking the 42 and the 6 and making 7/1 and 5/1. Multiply to get 35.
second one exp.: u do the same thing, but flip the fraction to divide.

42/1 x 5/6
Try to simplify first, numerator and denominator of the opposites, so 1 and 5 are already simplified. 6 and 42 can both be divided by 6, the problem would then equal
7/1 x 5/1 = 35
35/(7/10) is the same as saying 35 x 10/7
Change it to 35/1 x 10/7
Again, is there any common factors? Not for 10 and 1, but for 7 and 35 you can take 7 out of both
The problem now equals
5/1 x 10/1 = 50
If you cannot take anything out, you multiply both the numerators and both the denominators.
ex: 5/6 x 5/7
None of the numerators are divisible by any similar numbers as the opposite denominators.
5 and 7 are prime, and nothing goes into both 5 and 6.
Multiply 5 and 5 = 25
Multiply the bottom 6 x 7 = 42
The answer is then 25/42

for both questions start by expressing both sides as a fraction so 42 as a fraction is 42/1 and five sixths is obviously 5/6. for multiplication multiply 42 by 5 and 1 by 6 ie (42x5)/(1x6) =210/6 =35
when dividing 35/1 divided by 7/10 you do the same thing but switch the 7/10 the other way up =10/7 so (35x10)/(1x7) =350/7 =50
hope that helps

you put the whole numbers in fractions so for 42 times 5/6 you would multiply (42/1) by (5/6)
(42/1) x (5/6) = (210/6) = 35
for 35 divided by (7/10) you would make 35 a fraction and divide it by the reciprical of (7/10) {which = (10/7)}
(35/1) x (10/7) = (350/7) = 50

To Divide Fractions by Whole Numbers:
Treat the integer as a fraction (i.e. place it over the denominator 1)
Invert (i.e. turn over) the denominator fraction and multiply the fractions
Multiply the numerators of the fractions
Multiply the denominators of the fractions
Place the product of the numerators over the product of the denominators
Simplify the Fraction
Example: Divide 2/9 by 2
The integer divisor (2) can be considered to be a fraction (2/1)
Invert the denominator fraction and multiply (2/9 ÷ 2/1 = 2/9 * 1/2)
Multiply the numerators (2*1=2)
Multiply the denominators (9*2=18)
Place the product of the numerators over the product of the denominators (2/18)
Simplify the Fraction if possible (2/18 = 1/9)
The Easy Way. After inverting, it is often simplest to "cancel" before doing the multiplication. Canceling is dividing one factor of the numerator and one factor of the denominator by the same number.
For example: 2/9 ÷ 2 = 2/9 ÷ 2/1 = 2/9*1/2 = (2*1)/(9*2) = (1*1)/(9*1) = 1/9

you would turn the whole number into a fraction by putting a 1 underneath it and cross multiply if you can.
like this:
42/1 x 5/6 and 35/1 x 7/10
With the first equation, you can cross multiply( change the six to a 1 and the 42 to a 7 to make the multiplying easier) but not with the second.

You'll have two solutions- the problems look like this
42*(5/6). So divide 42 by 6, giving you seven, and then multiply by five, getting 35. Ergo, 42*(5/6)=35.
Likewise,
35/(7/10) = 3.5*7 = 31.5

42 is 42/1
so 42/1 x 5/6
You multiply the top 2 numbers by each other
then the botem 2 by each other
so you get: 210/6
2. 35 is 35/1
so 35/1 Divided by 7/10
You flip the last fraction around
so 35/1 x 10/7
you multiply
350/7

You get a hint. Think of 42 as 42/1 and think of 35 as 35/1. And when you divide by a fraction, you can flip it over and multiply by it instead.
