You can approach this two ways. If she wants to be a fashion model and you don't want to hurt her feelings, you can tell her that she is not the appropriate height since there is a height requirement (minimum height is about 5'9 for plus size models).
The other way you can go if she is the right height is to just tell her that she can be a plus size model given that she has the modeling body type.

First off, telling her that there's no way she's going to be a fashion model is not a nice thing to do. Women already have body image problems, and you really don't want to implant that into her mind. Look at Mia Tyler (Steven Tyler's daughter) she a very well known high class fashion model, and she's a size 16. There are plenty of oppurtunities in this world for plus size FASHION models. I would tel her that the fashion industry focuses more on skinnier models, but that that doesn't mean she can't be one. Good Luck! =)

Actually she can be a fashion model. There are many plus size fashion models in the business today. You either have to be a size 00-6 or 12-18. There is no in betwee. If she wants to be a fashion model believe in her don't tell her she can't.

she could be a +size model, they make a lot of money too, but you have to be a size 14 I think. If she wants to be a real model, the very thin thin ones, then bring her to a modelling agency. I'm 5'9 35-25-36 and the woman told me my a** was too big to be a model!!!

She won't be a high-fashion model, but there are plus-size modelling agencies out there that she can try.
In my opinion, there is really no nice way to tell her that there's no way she will be a fashion model. She will get upset anyway you tell her, especially if she's really determined. Good luck.

Don't. Encourage her to feel beautiful no matter her size. There are plenty of people in the world to tell you you can't do something, it is always good to have someone in your corner supporting your dreams. Also, have you heard of plus size modeling??? Curvy girls can be gorgeous too! :)
