it's in my hw, please help.

by experimentation it has been found that the molecule of dinitrogen oxide has a non-zero dipole moment and that ions of mass 44, 30, 28, 16 and 14 are obtained in the mass spectrometer. which of the structures is supported by the data? show how the data are consistent with this structure.

well, i would guess it's NNO, but i don't understand the data given

thank u very much

44 - N2O+
30 - NO+
28 (N2)+
16 - O+
14 - N+

You couldn't get the peak at 28 unless the two N atoms were joined. Also, If N-O-N was linear, it would be non-polar.
