Especially when we pretend we're someone we're not and deep down aren't happy. Why do we care so much what other people think of us and fear embarrassment?

I've never been one to want to draw too much attention to myself but I've been contemplating why I took this so seriously all my life. Why do I take so many precautions to be "normal"?

Affirmation and acceptance. We all need it. It can't come ONLY from within. It must come from the outside. It's why some folks, will tolerate abuse for years and years and years. It's why some will give more than they should; it's why some will lie, steal and cheat; It's why some push themselves to be "perfect" in their career or social life. Many will spend a lifetime of giving or tolerating abuse for the promise of crumbs that never come.

When you get good things imparted to you from loving, healthy and safe people, it helps your spine grow and gives you a courageous heart to be the unique person God created you to be!

One should never try to be "normal and "fit in". One should be themselves. Taking precautions means you were trying to be something you were not.

Everyone is unique and different in this world, and it is the ones who are "different", that create new ideas, sing wonderful songs, get to be a sports legend, or millionaires like Oprah. Read about her life from the time she was a child and see why this woman chose not to be normal.

Everybody has choice and whatever you choose to be, you will become. Why not choose to be anything rather than "normal". Show your uniqueness, show who you are, have good self esteem and have strength within yourself.

Anyway what is "normal" who is "normal". "Normal" in whose eyes?

I have never pretended to be other than what I was and am. It must be a terrible negative feeling to PRETEND like that and not be yourself. What a strain. One couldn't be happy under those circumstances.

Choose to be yourself, and don't look at other people and think that they are "normal" or "abnormal", that is only YOUR OPINION.

Because, most people want to fit in, be popular, but if u are just ur self, then u will find people who like u for who u are. There is no point in trying to fit in, becuz most of the popular people will only except u if ur something ur not, and i dont even give a care any more about what anybody thinks of me,im the one that has to live with my self so i want to please myself not other people.if ur pleased with ur self then thats all u need.

The best thing you can do for YOURSELF, is to be yourself. Go to the types of places that YOU like. Do the things that YOU like. Find people who share YOUR interests.

You're never going to be happy putting on a front to 'fit in' with others. Happiness starts with YOU.
