I guess they're not the ones who have to clean up the mess.
Are they laughing at the baby or the person responsible for cleaning up?

it's just 'cute' because we can't do it any more. Who in the world would think an adult (even wearing Depends) making grunting noises and funny red faces would think it is cute! >erg< Who'd wanna clean up that mess!

I think it's mainly because babies are so precious and cute, people are so easily amused by them. My son's face gets so red when he poops and he makes these weird sounds and I kind of chuckle a little bit, but I am the one that has to clean up the mess.

My daughter had the whole room in fits last week while we were visiting family. Her facial expressions are hysterical, and her face turns bright red. I have to clean it up, but it's still funny. And at least that way I know she's done it so I can change her right away!

we do it all the time at the trailer park an' nobody pays no mind to it. It's just natural fer us. Matter of fact, we have contests on how can push and grunt the loudest and get reddest in the face. I won first prize and was top grunter fer the month!

Not only have I laughed, I took pictures of my daughter's "poo face" when she was younger! It was pretty funny, despite having to deal with the aftermath. I think it's fairly harmless until a certain point- once the child begins to get a bit older (closer to a year, even) I think you should be cautious of laughing in front of them so as not to make them feel self-conscious.

I dunno... I am the one cleaning up, and I still can't help but laugh when my son makes faces and sounds during a call of nature. It's pretty comical.
