Anthems for a Seventeen year-old girl by broken social scene
i'm pretty sure it's about two friends growing apart so I guess that can sort of relate to what you mean =]
i don't know if you'll like it though, i think it's really different sounding, but i've always been in love with this song. it sounds like she's singing about someone who she loved as a best friend, but she's changed and isn't coming back.
too bad the song doesn't have a happy ending =[

Here's one of my favorites. It's by Patsy Cline and it's called "Sweet Dreams of You".
(Very sad orchestra music)
Sweet dreams of you
Ev’ry night! I go through
Why can’t I forget you
And start my life anew
Instead of having sweet dreams
Of you?
You don’t love me
It’s plain
I should know—I’ll never wear your ring
I should hate you—the whole night through
Instead of having sweet dreams about you
(Orchestra music begins crescendo)
Sweet dreams of you
Things I know—Can’t come true!
Why can’t I forget the past
Start loving someone new
Instead of having sweet dreams of you?
(Orchestra music decrescendos very sad scale)
