Besides the obvious 40 gb difference there is another. On the 40 gb ps3 you are unable to play ps2 or ps1 games. Thats all i know for now.

i dont have one, but im guessing the difference is that the 80gb can hold more data than the 40gb (thats kinda obvious).

The obvious answer is that the 80g has more memory. But the 40g doesnt have backwords compatability.
