The penalty? Unless you are a very, very lucky person, at best a dropped bike.........at worst, some damaged body parts. We were all young and fearless once and if you had the roads all to yourself, you'd probably be OK (aside from the illegality of riding around without a license) But the problem is you've got to know how to handle that bike when you're surrounded by other motorists who may not be the best riders or drivers .........you have to learn how to avoid them when they do something stupid ( or when YOU do something stupid)....or, what to do on bad road surfaces, tight corners, etc... "Checkedo" is right on about the Motorcycle Safety Course.....the best and cheapest life insurance policy you will ever get. Take the course...then, have a ball!

The same as driving an automobile without a license.
You will get a ticket for driving without a license and your bike will be towed away.
To get your bike back, you'll have to pay the towing fee and impound fee.

500.00 cost of court and a lawyer.Tickests and points on your license. Without a bike license it's driveing without a license, illegal, no registration, or insurance, you could conceivably go to jail if the officer wanted to push the issue. It's a bad idea.

Why not get the cycle lic, it would be cheaper than the tickets for no lic, no insurance for cycle, no lic plate, no inspection sticker, and tow truck & storage fees since it will have to be hauled away. In other words it can be in the hundreds of dollars.

Get legal. As an inexperienced rider, it won't be long before you'll be spotted, anyway.
Then it's death by firing squad, prob'ly. Depends on your state.
