Drink as much water as you can in order to replace fluid loss. It will also help to bring down body temperature.
Rest as much as possible.
Avoid suddenly changes in atmospheric temperatures.
Avoid eating solid foods until the fever is gone. You can replace the foods by drinking plenty of distilled water and/or juices.
when you have fever do not take any supplement containing either iron or zinc. Taking iron causes great tension in a body that is fighting infection; and zinc is not absorbed by the body when you have fever.
Take cool bathes, fill a bath tub, submerge and lay down for 5' approximately. Repeat as needed until the fever is down.
If the fever does not exceed 102 degrees let it run its course. It helps the body to fight infection and eliminate toxins.

Usually it's a fever recucing pill such as aspirin or tylenol. If the Temp is too high I apply cool water compresses on the face and body.

as you may know, fever is the reaction, not the cause, so there's no use to treat the reaction...
I usually eat something light, like a soup and stay warm...if you sweat you feel better bc your body cools down...if your fever reaches 40C you have to have a cold bath but that is usually very dificult to do on your own bc you'll feel it like ice due to the fever and someone has to help you...
edit
unless of course you mean a fever like the one in the song by Peggy Lee...that, my friend, is tough to fight, as I suspect you already know...

Push the fluids...CLEAR Gatorade because if they throw up...it won't stain anything.
I also alternate Motrin and Tylenol for me and the older two kids. My youngest son has a SERIOUS Ibuprofen allergy so he can only use Tylenol.
Dress lightly...t shirt and shorts. NO SOCKS and MAYBE cover lightly with a sheet. Sometimes I open the window too.

Well... I'm going to say.. a cold bath.
Cruel? very.. when I had a fever and I was young.. my mom put me in the tub and filled it up with cold water...as if I wasn't already freezing. I cried.
