Well,there isn't anything wrong with masturbation,in fact its one sure way of not catching a disease from any one else,as long as its done in the privacy of your own home its completely ok. You may also want to engage in mutual masturbation with your partner its safe from std"s and you can"t get pregnant or get any one pregnant,hope this helps you with your question.

Because some people just aren't comfortable with themselves their bodies or their sexuality, or society has made it a point to demonize sexual things and masturbation is no different.

Because some think it is a sin. Or that you should be married and having sex, not touching yourself! At least that is how my dad thought to a certain degree.

my theory is that people feel ashamed about it because they are lacking a decent sex education. Your question has comedy in it at the expense of clarity. a lot of people seem shy to talk about it. which is stupid, however in some societies it is not taboo.
