This is a really serious question, before the beer goggles arguments about disinhibition are posted, because it is a real social problem.

Perhaps it springs from the fact that many women suppress their normally sexuality through guilt, and only act on it when drunk, which is unfortunately when their reasoning is at its worst. That is my view, I am interested in hear yours.

Here are some facts from a recent UK article, referenced below:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/1003429.stm

One-third of women admitted to having unprotected sex after having too much to drink.

The survey, carried out in September among 1,000 18 to 30-year-olds, also revealed that:

* 41% confessed to a one-night stand which they would never have dreamt of doing had they been sober
* one in three women have had to ask their GP for the morning-after pill after drunken sex
* 10% have sought treatment for a suspected sexually-transmitted disease

This is somewhat connected to my answer to your other question, the puritanical pressure in a society that has been influenced by centuries of religion classifying what is moral and what is not.
Through sexual repressiveness and societal "moral beliefs and codes", many women believe that if they are sexually expressive, they are "whores", "sluts", "tramps", etc. The common terms used to refer to women who are in total control of their sexuality, and do as they please with their bodies.
Many women fear these labels, therefore conforming to the standards set by a society of opinionated individuals who impose their standards upon others and believe that they know what is "proper sexual conduct" and what is not.

Essentially, it comes down to FEAR.
Fear and choice makes women use alcohol as an excuse to express the sexual part of their human nature.

It isn't that they prefer to get drunk, it is just that that is just the way it happens, you are a party, or you go out, and time goes on, the defenses weaken, and everything is great, your look on life is fun fun fun, and then, well, that's why we go out to dance, or for a drink, to meet people, Getting drunk is just part of the ritual, I mean you are not going out to eat a case of hot-dogs, or drink a glass of milk one after another, The advertisers, the media, says: "In order to have fun, you must drink" "In order to look cool, you must smoke". Once your senses are in full flight, with a few Tequilas, you lose track of time, and lose your inhibitions, and you take your cloths off, and you think everyone looks like a Chippendale Dancer, and you think you are the queen of the jungle, sexy as no one can be. OMG, I love to go out and get a woman tipsy, all judgment to hell, Live it up. Drink, and be marry, worry about it tomorrow.

My bet is that they are just getting more and more drunk because they are unhappy with the selection of men at the bar they are at. Sorry to say it - but they are more than likely not going to find their prince charming at the local pub- so might as well get drunk and spend a fun night with the runner up.

I don't think women need to get drunk to have sex. Although it's true that they're more likely to have sex when they're drunk. There are two reasons for that. The first, obviously, is that is lowers their inhibitions. But the second one, and perhaps the more interesting one, is that getting drunk and having sex are both things that people do when they want to have fun. If a woman has sex, it's probably because she wants to have fun. And if she wants to have fun, then she might as well get drunk too. (Or you could reverse it and say that if she gets drunk, she probably wants to have fun, and if she wants to have fun, then she might as well have sex too.)

It is not just the suppressed sex that comes out when they are drunk.Any suppressed feeling burst out in any form. When a woman is drunk her mind gets relaxed & since sex is the strongest pleasure experienced, the mind naturally goes in that direction.Their insecurity in life also make them to find a partner at that moment.

I was going to ask a similar question but not gender specific. Men have the "b@lls" to be more sexually agressive while drunk and ask for what they want. From a male perspective it also dissolves any thouights of performance anxiety. Alcohol is a powerful drug and traditionally abused by both genders but by men even more.

Excellent question.

I think that also there is a "sex is bad" idea in the "mass consciousness" of the world, which is still there.

If all woman "allowed" themselves to give and receive "truly" in the sexual act between two loving consenting adults, more would be "right" in the world.

Better "sex" education is required by parents, peers, media, schools, family and friends.
A better understanding of the whole act of loving should be included.

Thanks for the question Twilight

Women have been programed by society and religion to relinquish their power, this goes much deeper than just seeing sex as bad. Sex is a very powerful drive and if used correctly can liberate and if misused can cause what is seen today, unrest, drives for money and things, but most of all incompleteness.

I love to get drunk before having sex. I'm much more flexable in what I do and love it rough. When I'm sober it's not the same.

I'm not sure. Perhaps it could be shyness and the women feel they need some "Dutch courage"? and perhaps they could be a little shy about their bodies?
Not that I do anything like this though, cannot drink large amounts of alcohol anymore and wouldn't want to risk Std's or pregnancy if I were single.
