So if Southeastern Louisiana Lions were to go undefeated they should be number 1? Come on!!! People if you play no one then you should get no ones attention. Hawaii may not control who they play but does that mean they could compete with anyone? NO !!! If Hawaii was to move into first or second then that means anyone could become number 1 even if they play only high school teams. I think Kansas has a great team right now but they have their hardest games on the way. Why rush it? "" they were to win out then and only then should they be worried about the rankings. It doesn't mean that much right now. As for Hawaii even if they finish out without a loss they shouldn't break the top 5. And to specifically answer your question...
The reason Kansas nor Hawaii will be ranked 1 or 2 is that they don't belong there yet. Maybe after Kansas wins out then ... well lets get there first!

kansas hasn't played anyone.. they will get possibly 2 tests.. mizzou, and then if they beat them, then they will play oklahoma.. until then they are untested playing mid and low level teams so far
hawaii is a joke. look it up if you want...
Hawaii has played ONE TEAM WITH A WINNING RECORD ALL YEAR.. that was 6-4 fresno st. and they only won that one by 7...
3 of the 9 teams on their schedule have 2 wins BETWEEN THE THREE OF THEM. their opponents W-L record is 27-65!!!!
no it isn't their fault about that SOS, but at the same time, they can't be given a free ride just becuase they are undefeated...
whether it a team can help it or not, there still has to be substance in your wins, and while kansas will get those tests in 2 weeks and may emerge in the top 2, one win over one good team (boise st.) will not get hawaii in the top 5...

Maybe Kansas could make it if they win out. Hawaii on the other hand will never make it to the Championship game because of the conference they play in. The BCS won't let that happen.
About Hawaii's schedule, people should do their homework. They did try scheduling big name schools. They were suppose to play Michigan State who bought their way out of the game, they were going to Michigan (at Michigan) but the Michigan's Administration wanted Appalachian St. instead, ESPN tried to get USC to play Hawaii instead of Idaho but couldn't swing the deal, and Texas (at Texas) was also in the mix. Look it up before suggesting that they could have done something more about the schedule.
It'll be Oregon and LSU for the title game though in my opinion.

Kansas should be in the top 2 because if they run the table, they would beat Missouri and Oklahoma, both Top 5 teams.
Hawaii, though, should not because they do have a weaker schedule. They couldn't do much about their conference schedule, but they could have tryed to have a better non-conference schedule. And even though they have won all their games, they really haven't looked as impressive as they did last year in their games. They are not blowing away their conference opponents at all, like Boise State last year.
Kansas is for real this year and are definitely in contention for a spot at #1 or #2. Hawaii, though, is not as good as those other one loss teams.

You can only gauge greatness by playing great teams, if I were to guage Hawaii by looking at their schedule the first thing that pops up is a squeak by victory over an LA TECH team that just recently became an LSU whipping post. Kansas will be Gauged soon.

Kansas does not play in a "weak division"...If they win out, they should be ranked #1 or #2...they might even be considered if they lose one of their remaining games by a close margin...looks like, barring any upsets, the championship game will match up 2 of the group of Kanas, LSU, and Oregon...Hawaii needs to step up and join the Pac 10 if they ever want to be taken seriously...they just don't have enough "turf cred" in the conference they play in...I do hope they get a bid to a major bowl against a top quality opponent so we can see just how good they and that flashy qb really are...I'd like to see them do well and prove themselves

As far as Kansas goes they will move up in the polls.
As far as Hawaii is concerned the "Stregnth of Schedule" factor is a complete joke. Thats a BCS tool designed to keep teams like Hawaii out of the conversation. for the past 3 years the WAC has had at least 3 teams go 8-5 or better overall in their conference, which is compirable to pretty much every other conference out there, especially the overratted BIG 10 conference. Should they play tougher non-conference opponents, maybe, but most of them want Hawaii to fly in and play them, none of those teams is willing to go play them on the Island because of the traveling time there. (even though their teams are so much better!)
One day the WAC will get the credit it deserves.

if ohio state can sit at #1 for weeks with their weak schedule then it only makes sense to put undefeated teams at the top... the strength of schedule formula is flawed when a team like ohio state sits at the top when the toughest team they played until yesterday was wisconsin or purdue..lol
kansas will play either texas or oklahoma in the title game.and they will get a ring for being big 12 champions. then they go to the title game cuz LSU is overrated and will lose in the SEC title game....
oregon vs kansas for all the marbles..
go gators

If Kansas goes undefeated they'll have played and beat Missouri and Oklahoma, so they'll be #1.
Hawaii hasn't really beat anyone this year.
If they Boise St, they'll get some more credibility.
Hawaii shouldn't be higher than the Sugar Bowl.
Kansas will only play in the title game if they are undefeated, regardless what happens to Oregon or LSU(in my opinion)

Because they are Kansas and Hawaii. Strength of schedule means alot. Who have they played? If they had to play a LSU or Ohio State they would get pounded. The Montana Grizzlies might go undefeated this year too. I want them in the National Title game.
