No - that is generally a myth that has little basis in reality. There are different issues in rurual areas vs. cities that can have those areas competing for attention and resources, but that doesn't translate into a battle of values vs. opulance.
Thomas Frank explores this narrative in some detail in "What's the Matter With Kansas." A very good read if you are interested.

Would have to say yes. Grew up in small town of just over 500 people, but have lived in larger cities recently, and there are many differences in values. There was more of a sense of community in the smaller towns that seems to be lacking in larger cities. The pace of life was definitely slower, the atmosphere was more relaxed, and people were easier to get to know, not that there were that many of them.

You have a very good point.
I moved From Los Angeles to rural Virginia 5 months age to escape the economic ruin thats going on in the second largest city in Mexico...LA.
My husband with the BA found work the second day here, after being unemployed in LA for almost a year.
Virginia is wonderful!!!! I'm so happy to see people perk up when I mention Sean Hannitys comments and SMILE in agreement.
My first week here I was invited TO CHURCH!!!! That never happened in California.
I had to go to the emergency room with a serious burn...and no illegals were there to crowd me out!!!
I love Viginia..I think I've found the REAL America...because LA IS a differnt country!
And I'm from China! My answer is a HUGE YES!!!

In Ca. the cities are Blue, the counties are Red. That's how Arnie got elected and re-elected. The inner city of Los Angeles is now 65% illegal alien. I'm sure they have a different perspective than those in the suburbs.

Of course. I wouldn't call it opulence though. The majority of people living in large cities aren't necessarily wealthy. I would say that living in a city makes you more individualistic and perhaps a little more self centered than living in a rural family oriented environment.

in case you propose the united states, i need to say convinced, that is ! basically look on the witch hunt with illegals. maximum of them are literally not undesirable human beings, notwithstanding the terrorists gave the excuse that some human beings needed to start up chasing unlawful immigrants. because the Europeans got here to the united states and "offered" the land from the interior sight community ( who had no theory of land being offered or offered ) they began to attend to all different immigrants like they were jack the ripper, no count number that the united states made conflict to Mexico and seized 1/2 of their territory ( changed into that unlawful ). considering then, human beings south the border were coming right here to paintings and make money. without the immigrants, legal or unlawful, this u . s . ought to have gone down the drain. It receives the low-cost hand hard paintings of Latin u . s ., and has been receiving the scientists of the international, like Werner Von Braun, Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, basically to teach some. in recent times it remains receiving lots of those with severe practise, like docs, and instead of greeting them, they make issues very hard for them, rejecting the brains that come right here free. Now international places like China are attracting scientists. the united states do not care about that now, yet they are going to

No. There is more poverty in Los Angeles, not opulence. There is a basic feeling and necessity to care, feed and love our families no matter where we are in America.
