I'm 21 weeks pregnant and was prescribed antibiotics for an allergic reaction to something that made my mouth swell but I'm afraid to take it.

There are certain antibiotics that are perfectly safe to take while pregnant, and your doctor knows what these are, so I would trust his judgment if I were you.

You shouldn't leave an allergic reaction untreated as it can worsen or cause more dangerous symptoms.

I had an abscessed tooth at 8 weeks pregnant and had to have a root canal. I was prescribed penicillin and Lorcet Plus for pain. Both were considered "safe" medications during pregnancy. I'm now 20 weeks and everything is fine!

Talk to your Dr. If he knows your pregnant and prescribed it then he thinks its safe.

Did they know you were pregnant when they prescribed it? If they did, I would think it was safe.

Well as long as your Dr. who prescribed it knows your pregnant then don't worry.
