My son's father and I get along well. I am remarried and he is seeing someone I trust with my son. We both work together to decide what is best for our son, It wasn't always like that though. I fought hard for my son and his dad to have a relationship and now they do. The past is the past for us, even though I still care about him, I don't love him like I did. But I will always be a friend to him and he to me.

I am still friends with both of my ex's we have kids together and family gatherings are really hard on the kids if you hate their other parent. You actually had to care for them at one time since you did marry them and have kids with them. So why not get passed the hate for the kids sake and remember that someday you will have grandchildren together and you won't want your kids to have to chose which parent they want at the hospital on the delivery day cause its their time to be happy. This coming from a woman that has been divorced twice and just cause i can't get it right doesn't mean my kids have to suffer.

Good question and I am in a situation like yours. Yes, you will still have to talk to him regarding the kids and ONLY the kids. Keep that clear to him. My ex will try and get into my business and when he starts asking me personal questions, I say "You know, I'd really like to talk to you right now, but now is not a good time, so I will call you when it IS a good time" Then, before he has a chance to answer or respond, I hang up. I hate it when he calls though unfortunatly, he is the father of my kids and I have to talk to him. Keep it short and simple and when he starts interferring with you, hang up.. simple simple. If he doesn't leave you alone, I would call the police and get a restraining order for harrasment. Jail will shut him up.

I'll just tell you that we have found our way to friendly conversation and dialogue regarding the kids, but when it comes to his behavior being the cause of the divorce, he still tries blaming me and telling me that I can stop all the actions, that we can get married again when I "Calm down" (even though I threw his butt out for what he had done...trust me you don't want to know...if you must know....read some of my other answers on my profile). Anyway, when it comes to that conversation, I tell him I have to go and don't talk to him about it. That is the beauty of the whole thing. I choose now when he is abusive to me to hang up on him. Before I couldn't but now I can AND do!!

The only time my ex and I talk is when it has something to do with the 3 children that we share...I honestly have to say that I don't fret that he calls...because we committed to being civil to one another and making the divorce painless for everyone and especially for the children.....
