I think around 11 or 12.
At 11 or 12 a person should be going on dates accompanied by their parents. After doing this for 2-3 years, the parent and child may feel comfortable enough that the child can go with large groups not accompanied by the parent (though still under supervision) such as a skating party or birthday party.
Then when the child is 16-17 they have all this trust built up between the child and the parent. The child knows what to expect, the parent knows what to expect. There are no secrets and no 9th month surprises.
Without going through a process however a 17 yr old, is just as innocent and naive as a 12 yr old, and should not be sent off to discover the intimacies of relationships just because they are going to be close to being an adult when the baby is born.

I thought i was dating at the age of 14, but i guess i wasnt. Many people do not understand what it means to date at that age. I think that the right age to date, is when you understand that looks are not the most important thing. I recantly figured that out and i am now happily dating at the age of 17. I may sound like i am not taking my own advice tho cause i am dating a cheerleader, however i love her for her personality, not her good looks. :D

Probably group date around 16. Double dates at 17 and no alone dates till they've graduated.

I think group dating (going out with a group of friends who all have "boyfriends" or "girlfriends" is ok at age 15. Single (one on one) dating is ok at 16 or 17. It depends on their maturity level.

Id agree. But maybe 15 - 16 +.
It would depend on the maturity and the amount of common sense the teen had.

On group dates at 12, alone at 16, and in the drive-in after graduation.
