this is the poem:
http://www.qrd.org/qrd/misc/text/pat.parker-poetry

i know it's a protest song *maybe* modelled after martin luther king jr.'s "i have a dream" speech? and i know pat parker is a young black lesbian coming from around the 70's......

but my teacher wants a more structually based analysis; like figural devices, diction, tone, structure, rythym, sound,. also any help on allusions and other literary devices will help A LOT.

PLEASE HELP :(

i apologize profusely, i meant to make clear that pat parker was a documented lesbian and also a woman, not a man, (sorry forgot that :S) but i always viewed it as a protest AGAINST homophobia and prejudice against all backgrounds be they sexual orientation, race, religion, etc. BUT thinking about as pat's guilty conscience is also interesting...

It is guilt conscience that haunts Pat. Where will you be is a refrain lamenting the hazards gays face in this straight world but one may doubt also if the poet is actually gay or just one of the many homophobic gentlemen on the road!!
