If I'm left handed can I use a right handed guitar?

I'm going to get guitar lessons and I'm just going to buy a cheap 200 dollar one for my first one. I am left handed. So would I need to buy a left handed one or would a right handed one be just fine?

Ask your instructor. A right handed one should be fine.

Be sure to ask your instructor in advance if he recommends you switch the strings or if he prefers you to learn how to play right handed.

I would think you should go and handle them to see which way is more comfortable. You could find out from the person giving you lessons if they can teach you left. But I believe an instrument is universal, just pick one up and play it the way you are taught. I am ambidextrous so I can do most things with both hands but I am usually better with either hand on different things. Go to guitar shop to try a out instruments using both hands.

Just learn to play a normal guitar, much easier in the future.
Guitar playing is something you do with both hands, and both take equal difficulty to learn.

If you strum the guitar it is even easier to play a normal, right handed, guitar when you are left handed, as the cords are made by the left hand.

Yes you can it is very simple and wont need to get a right handed one i am also left handed and when i started i used right and i still am and it is no challenge...... Unless you are very weak with your right it shouldnt be a problem............Good luck

i think a left handed one would be better f or you, are you going to play clasical or rock? if it's classical, you'll need your right hands to be really strong and maneuverable
