Well like everything else in the world, your answers are a click away. Google it!
Check your manual or ask someone at your local auto parts store. Im assuming that you bought this car used, in which case I highly recommend having the chain replaced with a new one. Do you plan on keeping the car for many more miles? If not, you may be able to get away with having the chain adjusted.
ps - Ive never heard of the Primera? is that a foreign release?

If it was a belt I would say replace it at around 70,000 miles. Your vehicle has a chain which most likely wont break but it may have a tensioner that may need adjustments.

check the owners manual. My VW said I need to change it at 100K. If you don't have an owers manual, I think Autozone.com has maintenance interval info on most vehicles from the last 15 years.

So yours has a chain interesting.
If yours still have the owners manual look in there and it should tell you. If not call your local dealer and they will tell you.

If you're talking about the timing belt, the change interval is usually 60,000 miles.
