My daughter was caught last night drinking underage by a forest ranger. She is 16 years old and almost 17. She was caught with 4 of other kids. The ranger only gave her a ticket for $125 smiliar to a speeding ticket. I was wondering if the charge would be recorded on her record and any other information that can be provided.
Thanks

mountain.... has it right the only concern you should have is the fact she was drinking. it does not matter if it is on her record the fact is she was drinking underage. poor judgment, peer pressure, lack of adult guidance, whatever the reason she is drinking underage it is wrong and you need to focus on that. i hope the fact that you asked this question shows you are dealing with her and not your concern about a "record".
good luck take this opportunity to talk to her and hold her ACCOUNTABLE for the choice she made.

Yes, the charge will be recorded on a criminal record. It may be put in a juvenile record which is sealed in some states after the person reaches 18. This seal is by no means a guarantee that the record cannot be reopened however in some cases. It is a legal mishmash. It is also possible that she could lose her driving priviledge for a certain time, even though she was not driving at the time. She should chalk it up to experience and learn from the incident. It is not like she is a marked criminal for the rest of her life.

I wouldn't be as worried about the record as I would be if she were getting hooked on the stuff. My mother was an alcoholic and I practically raised myself. My son was permanently injured in an accident that alcohol was involved. I have never drank and I do not condone it - however, I am not a religious fanatic. It is just the aforementioned events in my life plus countless other sad stories have shown me the absolute seriousness of the problem. Many parents think it is ok for kids to drink. I think it is not. People act as if I am somehow abnormal for not drinking, but I think THEY are the abnormal and stupid ones for partaking of such a dangerous elixir. It has been shown to be a life-destroyer many times over, yet people shun you if you don't drink.

firstly, there it no need to mention her age when it comes to instances as this...if she is under the Legal drinking age of your state/country/county, it will be on her permanent record for certain.

Simply paying the fine will not make it go away, nothing will, one its done its done. Just pray it doesnt happen again because she will most likely spend the night in jail depending on you local laws.

also maybe you should punish her too, to make sure for a fact that this does not happen again...you should be more worried about you daughter than her permanent record..that cannot be fix or altered, she can.
