That's a tough question. It has become easy for me to do so as I get older, but the road to being able to distinguish has not been easy. I have misjudged a lot of times and learned from each bad choice. I always hesitate to say I have ever reached a point of spiritual enlightenment, as it seems there is always more of the stairway above me than below me, but I know I'm much farther along the way than I used to be. Distinguishing among reason, desire and need is indicative of that progress.
None of this answers your question does it? Sorry, I told you it's a tough question.

It is still difficult for me. I have a hard time at age 38 and two kids, to reason those two you mention. I have the "desire" to go away for two or three days but the kids "need me too much" to do that. It's a constant "battle" for me....lol!!!

It`s easy to know the difference, but it`s so easy to give in to desire, isn`t it?

I love the question - yes... reason has absolutely no connection to my feelings or that of others. It's just what it is - based on the truth.
